Groups Enterprise
Enterprise workspaces use groups to share threads with part of the workspace. Workspace admins can also use groups to assign entitlements.
Create a Group
To create a group:
- Open Workspace Settings.
- Open the Members section and select Groups to view the group list.
- Select Create Group to enter a name and choose the initial members.
Group names use 3 to 32 lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens.
Workspace admins and Group Managers can create groups. Only workspace admins can assign the Group Manager role.

Manage Group Membership
Each member can belong to one Amp workspace group at a time. Adding someone who is already in another workspace group moves them to the new group.
The actions available to each person depend on their role:
- Workspace admins and Group Managers can manage every group.
- Group Captains can add or remove members in their group. They can also promote another group member to Captain.
- Regular members can view their group and leave it. They cannot join a group or add another member.
- Auditors can view groups, but they cannot change them.
Share Threads With a Group
Group members can select Group for a thread’s visibility. This makes the thread available to the group instead of the whole workspace.
Workspace admins, Group Managers, and Group Captains can set the default thread visibility for a group. The workspace’s thread visibility policy limits the options they can choose.
These roles can also delete groups they manage. When they delete a group, its members lose access to threads shared only with that group. The thread creators and workspace admins keep access.
