Workspace Entitlements

Amp Enterprise workspaces can set per-user usage quotas through entitlements, such as:

  • A default of $50/week for regular users and $200/week for senior engineers
  • A $100/day per-user limit applied to every workspace member
  • Different limits for contractors vs. full-time employees

To get started, head over to the workspace settings page and navigate to the “Entitlements” section.

Assigning Entitlements

Entitlements can be assigned to users in four ways:

  • Default: One entitlement can be marked as the default, which applies to all workspace members who don’t have a more specific assignment.
  • Individual: Assign an entitlement directly to specific workspace members.
  • Workspace Group: Assign an entitlement to an Amp workspace group. Workspace Group entitlements are experimental. Current members of that group receive the entitlement, and membership changes update who is covered.
  • Directory Group: Link an entitlement to one or more directory groups synced from your identity provider (e.g., Okta, Entra ID) via SCIM. Members of those groups automatically receive the entitlement.

Workspace Group Entitlements

Workspace Group entitlements are experimental and use Amp workspace groups. They are useful when Workspace Admins want to manage spend classes directly in Amp instead of through an identity provider.

When creating or editing an entitlement, select “Workspace Group” as the assignment type, choose a workspace group, and save. Users who are current members of the selected group will automatically receive the entitlement.

Directory Group Entitlements

If your workspace has directory sync enabled (via WorkOS SCIM), you can assign entitlements based on IdP group membership. This is useful for organizations that want entitlement assignments to stay in sync with their identity provider automatically.

When creating or editing an entitlement, select “Directory Group” as the assignment type, choose a directory and one or more groups, and save. Users who are members of the selected groups and have joined the workspace will automatically receive the entitlement.

Resolution and Usage Tracking

Across all assignment types, when a user qualifies for multiple entitlements, the effective entitlement is determined in this order:

  1. Individual entitlement
  2. Workspace Group entitlement
  3. Directory Group entitlement
  4. Default entitlement

If a user qualifies for multiple entitlements at the same priority level, the entitlement with the highest normalized daily quota wins.

Amp checks spend against the user’s current effective entitlement. Usage is tracked per user and entitlement. Changing the settings on the same entitlement keeps usage attached to that entitlement. If a user’s effective entitlement changes, prior spend from another entitlement does not count toward the new entitlement’s limit.
