macOS & iOS Apps

Amp runs as a native app on your Mac, iPhone, and iPad. The apps give you the same threads, orbs, and Puck as ampcode.com, and add notifications, dictation, sharing from other apps, and screen recording on iOS. Because the agent works in an orb, you can start a task from your desk and follow it from your phone.

The apps are in beta, so expect frequent updates and rough edges. Send feedback to amp-devs@ampcode.com.

Install

Get both apps at ampcode.com/app.

macOS. Drag the app into Applications. It requires macOS 26 or later. The app checks for updates on its own. To check right away, choose Check for Updates… from the Amp menu.

iOS and iPadOS. The beta ships through TestFlight, Apple’s beta testing app. It requires iOS or iPadOS 26 or later. To update, open TestFlight and install the latest build. An App Store release will come later.

Sign in with the account you use on ampcode.com. The app opens the ampcode.com sign-in page and returns to the app when you finish. Nothing else needs to be installed, because the agent runs in an orb and not on your device.

You can keep up to five accounts signed in on one device. Open your user menu and choose Switch Account to add an account or move between accounts.

Notifications

The apps notify you when a thread is ready for your next message. Tap or click the notification to open the thread.

Choose which notifications you get in App Settings. On a Mac, choose App Settings… from the Amp menu. On an iPhone or iPad, open the sidebar and select App Settings. You can turn notifications off or suppress them while Amp is in the foreground. The thread you are viewing never sends a notification.

Dictation

You can dictate your messages instead of typing them. The first time you dictate, the app asks for access to your microphone. Dictation works the same way it does on ampcode.com. See Voice Input for the shortcuts.

The apps also add a Talk to Puck shortcut to the Shortcuts app. It opens Puck and starts dictation. Add it to a widget, a keyboard shortcut, or the Action button, or run it through Siri.

Screenshots and Screen Recordings on iOS

On an iPhone or iPad, use the attachment button in the composer to attach a file. Besides the camera, your photo library, and the Files app, the menu offers two options that are only in the app:

  • Take Screenshot attaches a screenshot of what Amp is showing.
  • Record Screen records your device screen, including other apps, with optional microphone audio. When you stop the recording, Amp attaches the video to your message. Attach Latest Screen Recording attaches the most recent completed recording.

Share to Puck

Share an image to Amp from any app’s share sheet, on a Mac or an iPhone. Add a message if you want, then send. The image goes to Puck, which can start an agent, open a thread, or answer a question about it.

Puck

On an iPhone or iPad, open the sidebar and press Puck. On a Mac, press Ctrl+/ from any page, as you do on ampcode.com. See Meet Puck for what to ask.

On an iPhone or iPad, an ampcode.com/threads/... link opens in the app instead of Safari.

On a Mac, open a thread on ampcode.com in your browser and click Open in Mac App in the thread header.

Mac Windows and Menus

  • File > New Amp Window (Shift+Cmd+N) opens another window.
  • Cmd+, opens your personal settings and Option+Cmd+, opens workspace settings.
  • Cmd+[ and Cmd+] go back and forward. Cmd+R reloads.
  • Cmd++, Cmd+-, and Cmd+0 change the zoom level.
  • Help > Keyboard Shortcuts opens the keyboard shortcuts list.
